Why God always Keeps His Word

Why God always Keeps His Word

God always keeps His Word. Always.

This is not the case with people.

Whether or not we are known as someone who keeps our word defines our character and showcases our integrity or its lack.

Birthed in a flesh suit, we often fail to follow through. Or we bail.

And people break promises to us—even repeat offenders.

While humans struggle in this department, not the Lord.

God keeps His word and never contradicts His character. Never.

We gain valuable insight about God’s word-keeping ability in Numbers 22-24.

God Always Keeps Promises

A little of the storyline. Balaam and Balak serve as the key players (names not found in today’s books of baby names). Balaam, a diviner of oracles, spoke God’s words to others. Balak, the son of Moab’s king, who also reigned as king, sent for Balaam’s “services” with an intriguing offer.

Because here’s the situation. On the way to Canaan, the Israelites camped in the land of Moab. Troubled that the Israelites outnumbered his people, and how God helped them defeat other nations, the king devised a plan.

Balak offered Balaam a nice reward if he spoke a curse over the children of Israel. “…for I know that he whom you bless is blessed and he whom you curse is cursed.” Numbers 22:6b (ESV)

But Balak soon realized a sobering truth. Balaam responded, “…I will bring back word to you, as the Lord speaks to me.” Numbers 22:8b (ESV)

You see, it was never about Balaam keeping his word, but about keeping God’s words. Though Balaam adheres to God’s instructions to bless and not curse, he later instigated a scheme that caused the Israelites to bring a curse on themselves.*

Still, Balak persisted and requested three times for Balaam to curse the children of Israel. Instead, Balaam blessed the people. “Must I not take care to speak what the Lord puts in my mouth?” Numbers 23:12 (ESV)

God Always Keeps His Word

So Balak asked what the Lord had spoken which brings us to this verse.

“God is not a man that he should lie, or a son of man that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” Numbers 23:19 (ESV)

Living God’s Word as it Lives in Me

Living God's Word as it Lives in Me

Perhaps you’ve heard that the Bible is alive, the living Word of God. But how do we go about living God’s Word?

And how does the Bible show through in our lives?

Living Scripture in our daily lives equates to a life of no compromise.

Because our goals, desires, values, morals, and decisions are affected by Scripture.

Also, our relationships, lifestyle, worldview, heart, mind, and so on, stay bent toward scriptural truths.

Let’s look at several ways we L-I-V-E the Bible.

L-Lighting Our Path With Scripture: Living God’s Word

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Verse 130 continues, “The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.”

Even though we may not carry lamps to see where we’re going, we’re all familiar with needing light to find our way in the darkness. Whether it’s a candle, flashlight, or nightlight, they dispel enough of the dark to keep us from tripping.

Likewise, lighting our path with the Word keeps us from spiritually tripping. Through understanding, it drives away the darkness of the evil one, deception, and false beliefs.

“Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’” (John 8:12).

When we follow the light of the world, Jesus, the path leads to the light of life—living the Word.

Desire to shine God's Word all around. Strive to live a life of no compromise. How? The Word living in us and us living the Word. #GodsWord #Bible Share on X Read More…Facebooktwitterlinkedininstagram

Some thoughts the Lord reminded me that He gave me in the past, but are helpful in the present.

While others are new inspiration from the Lord.

Entries are heartfelt, authtentic, and vulnerable.

Encouraging Entries: Wholeness And The Cross

(1.) When life’s disappointments attempt to become my unwelcome friend, I remember Jesus calls me friend. Because He’s my best friend (John 15:5).

(2.) If people add injury to my pain, they are broken people in need of wholeness from Christ. Broke people break people. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

(3.) I must cling to the only sure hope in the darkness. Jesus. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 (ESV)

(4.) Lord, place the cross and the blood of Jesus between me and the enemy, and between me and difficult people and circumstances. There’s nothing Your redemptive blood doesn’t cover. And there’s nothing it can’t redeem.

I must cling to the only sure hope in the darkness. Jesus. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 (ESV) #hope Share on X

Promises and Power of Prayer

(5.) I’m so thankful for the power of prayer: that mountains still move, seas still part, mana still rains from heaven, and because God can raise the dead, ashes turn to beauty again.

Why Not to Underestimate the Power of Prayer

Why Not to Underestimate the Power of Prayer

Many times we underestimate the considerable power of prayer. And what praying accomplishes in our lives, hearts, and in the heavenly realm.

Because believing in prayer is not the same as actually spending time in prayer.

So we often struggle in this area of the Christian walk.

In these current unprecedented days, I desire to spend more time with God in prayer—to anchor myself to Him.

I need the power of prayer every day.

Let’s unpack some reasons not to underestimate the power of P-R-A-Y-E-R. Also, the benefits for our heart and our relationship with God.

Power of Prayer-Praise

P – Proclaims the Lord’s glory and praise.

Proclaiming the Lord’s glory and praise is not just for times of corporate worship. In fact, prayer is a form of individual worship. And it’s never all about us like a kid with a wish-list of wants and give-me’s.

Praising the Lord and glorifying His holy name is a great way to start prayer. It’s a wonderful way to pray in-between petitions and intercessions and to finish prayer.

“My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day.” Psalm 71:8 (ESV)

Praising the Lord and glorifying His holy name is a great way to start prayer, to pray in-between petitions and intercessions, and to finish prayer. #Prayer Share on X

R – Renews a right spirit in us.

7 Surprising Ways We Walk in Heavenly Wisdom

7 Surprising Ways We Walk in Heavenly Wisdom

What if the wisdom God wants us to walk in is unlike anything we ever thought about wisdom? And what if this heavenly wisdom helps us here on earth?

Perhaps like me, you’ve done your own search for sources of earthly wisdom at various stages of life.

Because we find it in many forms: reading, education, online classes, asking experts or family and friends, Google searches and so on.

But gaining knowledge doesn’t always equal wisely applying it to life.

So what does this mean when it comes to heavenly wisdom?

Wisdom from heaven, spiritual wisdom, is also meant to take knowledge and apply it to our life here on earth.

Look at one way the Bible describes it.

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17 (NIV)

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17 (NIV) Share on X

Let’s discuss these 7 things mentioned for walking in heavenly wisdom.

Heavenly Wisdom: Pure, Peace-loving, Considerate

(1.) Pure. Heavenly wisdom is first pure. Pure wisdom is untainted by the world’s definitions and standards.

Also, we walk in pure wisdom by applying it to areas of purity: pure heart (Psalm 24:3-4; Psalm 51:10), sexual purity/marriage bed (Hebrews 13:4), pure in thoughts (Philippians 4:8) and a pure path through God’s Word (Psalm 119:9).
