5 Ways We Bring Moments of Heaven to Earth

5 Ways We Bring Moments of Heaven to Earth

Moments of heaven on earth? Really, Karen?

Is there even such a thing?

Why, yes. Yes, there is! And we have access to front-row-seats.

Yet, I’m not talking about things or situations we attribute to the phrase, “It was heaven on earth.” Such as food, trips, or any experience we feel was heaven-like.

We are so limited in what we imagine for heaven. It’s much bigger and carries more awe than we realize.

A New Heaven and Earth

But the new heaven and earth will one day replace this fallen world we live in.

Look at how it’s all described in Revelation 21:

“Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.

There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true’” (Verses 1-5, NIV).

How wonderful this is what we have to look forward to. Still, in the present, there are moments of heaven touching earth and touching our lives. Here are 5 of those ways.

Moments of Heaven Touching Earth

1) Look around and look up—often. We may never know what God desires to rain down from heaven unless we remain aware, looking for it…looking for Jesus.

2) Engage in our life and in prayer. Who knows what is waiting behind the veil of heaven ready to pour over us until we ask. And ask on a regular basis.

Heavenly Father, oh how I need an outpouring from heaven in this situation, today, this hour, this moment in time. In the name of Jesus. Amen

3) Be present in the present. Show up in our loved one’s lives both physically and emotionally. And show up for our neighbors and friends. We carry a piece of heaven’s real estate, sealed by the Holy Spirit, as a promise of new life.

4) Act as Jesus with skin. That’s a sure-fire way to see glimpses of heaven. Model Christ to our family and friends; to the downcast, wayward—anyone without hope.

5) Abide in God’s presence. Worship and God’s Word both instill in us the riches of heaven.

Now let’s look at a bonus area of bringing heaven down.

Bringing Pieces of Heaven to Earth

Want to bring the hope of heaven, Jesus Christ, to this world? Grab ahold of true hope, the anchor for our souls. Living in such a manner that others ask where to find it. And then lead them to the cross and an empty tomb and a risen Savior.

Want to see the mercy of heaven displayed in living color? Access God’s mercies, new every morning, and then dispense mercy to others without limitation or hesitation.

Want to encounter the goodness of heaven as we dwell on this earth? Allow the Spirit to lead us, crucifying our flesh. The Spirit grows the fruit of goodness in us, pointing others to a good Father in heaven (See Galatians 5:16-24).

Want heaven’s love-factor brought down to our daily lives? Walk in God’s ways and His love. Refresh our minds with the unconditional love of 1 Corinthians 13. Since we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Because God’s people are citizens of heaven, we bring moments of heaven to earth in our lives and the lives of others.

J.D. Wininger says:

Lots of “amens” as I read your post Ms. Karen. I love how you explained we can be “conduits for God” when we shine His light into this world through our words and actions. I love those moments too when God gives me a glimpse of what my home will look and feel like. I call them “Heart Hugs” and I’m overwhelmed when I feel Him welling up inside of me. God’s blessings sweet sister-in-Christ.

Karen says:

I always like your term “heart hugs,” J.D. Moments of heaven on earth are just that. And how comforting that the Lord gives us these moments of heaven on earth and when we act as Jesus with skin, it brings heaven down in brilliant color magnifying Jesus as Lord, Savior, and the Redeemer of the world.

So marvelous and reassuring to know that the power to bring heaven to earth is available to us through the Holy Spirit, Karen. May we practice this always in our day-to-day lives.
Many blessings!

Karen says:

Hey Martha, it is available through the Holy Spirit. We carry a piece of heaven’s real estate, sealed by the Holy Spirit, as a promise of new life.

Ed says:

So many good points! When we abide in Christ we ARE in heaven!

Karen says:

Hey Ed, like this line, “When we abide in Christ we ARE in heaven!” That’s good. I pray we bring hope, love, mercy and more to earth.

Amen. Walk in God’s ways and the world will change for the better. 🙂 Karen, thank you for this wonderful message. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

Karen says:

Melissa, kindness is inevitable when we walk in God’s ways.

Paula Short says:

Love this Karen, so beautifully spoken.

Karen says:

Hey Paula, thanks for visiting. We carry a piece of heaven’s real estate, sealed by the Holy Spirit, as a promise of new life.

Nancy E Head says:

Jesus is the only hope on earth. He gives us glimpses if what’s ahead in our moments of joy here. God bless, Karen.

Karen says:

Yes, Nancy, these moments of heaven on earth are meant to give us those glimpses of what is ahead for us-where our citizenship is already.

Lynn says:

It all starts with looking up, doesn’t it? As soon as I look up, I’m reminded of the Truth to focus on! Thank you for presenting so much Truth here!

Karen says:

Yes, that’s true for me, Lynn, when I look up. It really does bring heaven to earth. God bless.

Yvonne Morgan says:

Great points Karen. When we look up, the light of Christ changes everything. Thanks for sharing

Karen says:

May we look around and look up—often. We may never know what God desires to rain down from heaven unless we remain aware, looking for it…looking for Jesus.

Amen, Karen! As always, an excellent, inspirational, and uplifting post!

Karen says:

Thanks, Melissa. I pray we walk in God’s ways and His love. Refresh our minds with the unconditional love of 1 Corinthians 13. Since we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Jessica Brodie says:

I love that thought: Act as Jesus with skin. You’re absolutely right that we need to reflect him to all around us. “Model Christ to our family and friends; to the downcast, wayward—anyone without hope.” AMEN!

Karen says:

Jessica, I pray to be Jesus with skin to my family, friends, co-workers, church, community, and so many more. To point others to the hope only found in Jesus. A heavenly hope.

Another beautiful and inspiring message, Karen! I pray to “look around and look up- often”. Such a wonderful reminder to keep our eyes and minds fixed on Jesus and the restoring work He is doing in lives and in the world. God bless you!

Karen says:

Thank you, Melissa. I think we so often get distracted in this world with everything going on around us and forget we are citizens in heaven and what God wants to do would blow our minds!
