7 Truths From the Bible to Know Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.
Love is one of those hard to define terms we overuse and misuse. Instead of like, we use love for everything from possessions and food to our favorite sports teams and celebrities.
Honestly, I use love to describe my affections for cinnamon rolls, pasta, Chai tea lattes, boots, the Hallmark Channel, and sunsets.
And in life’s hard moments, we may lose the loving feeling. For me, abandonment extinguished the emotion when my dad vanished from my life for a few years.
Sometimes love fades when hearts break. My heart broke after friendships dissolved and family members died including a baby in utero. I lost hope in love.
Jesus Loves Me
And all the moments I felt unlovable? Now I know how much Jesus loves me. If you know my story, then you know I felt unlovable for years. Watch the short storyline video on my home page.
But the love of Jesus brings us out of the darkness and into God’s marvelous light. We find hope for true love in the kind of love that goes to the cross.
Maybe, like me, at some point you questioned if anyone really loves you. But the greatest love story ever told is also our love story if we know Jesus.
So, put to rest, once and for all, any doubt about God’s love, never question if Jesus loves me.
Scripture gives us the truths about the love of Jesus.
1.) I am loved: Jesus Loves Me
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jeremiah 31:3 (ESV)
Receive God’s truth: I am loved. The Bible tells me so.

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:18-19 (ESV)
Receive God’s truth: God loved me first. His love perfected in me, drives out my fear. The Bible tells me so.
4.) The Lord quiets me with His love.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; and he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
Receive God’s truth: The Lord saved me and quiets me with His tender love. The Bible tells me so.
5.) The Lord redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love: Jesus Loves Me
“Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy.” Psalm 103:4 (ESV)
Receive God’s truth: God redeemed me through the blood of Jesus and crowned me with love. The Bible tells me so.

“I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.” Psalm 89:1-2 (ESV)
Receive God’s truth: God’s faithful and steadfast love for me stands forever. The Bible tells me so.
7.) I am a child of God and joint-heir with Jesus: Jesus Loves Me
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:1a (ESV)
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17 (NIV)
Receive God’s truth: My heavenly Father loves me so much, He calls me His child. The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me
This I know
For the Bible
Tells me so
Your words buried themselves deep into my heart.
Wonderful, Barb! “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 (ESV)
Amen. We are His beloved children and yes, Jesus loves us. Hallelujah!
A love like no other, Melissa! The love of Jesus brings us out of the darkness and into God’s marvelous light.
Remembering that I am an heir with Christ always makes me feel so special and loved, Karen. Let us believe what God says about us, not what the world might say.
Blessings!
I agree, Martha. The Father didn’t have to rescue us, much less make us joint-heirs with His one and only Son. Yet, He did. What love! God bless!
May the Spirit strengthen us ” to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Eph 3:19. May the world know his love! Thanks, Karen, for reminding us so well! God bless!
Ephesians 3:19 is indeed a powerful reminder. I’m thankful for the love of Christ today and every tomorrow.
What would we do without the love of Jesus! Especially when we go through the battering of hard life experiences. As we travel through those hard times, as you did and I have as well, we find that the love of Jesus is always with us as He carries us through. A great post, Karen!
Melinda, we would be lost without His redeeming love. “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jeremiah 31:3 (ESV)
I look forward to your posts. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Rebecca. Very kind of you. God bless. Jesus loves you!
Love how you paired each promise in the Bible with a statement of personal affirmation.
These verses are transformative when we apply them!
And the Bible is meant to live in us as we live its transforming power. Grateful for the love of Jesus that is past, present and future tense!
Another post that “knocks it out of the park” Ms. Karen. Perhaps one of the most overused words in the English language, but under-demonstrated words in the Christian vocabulary. Great message here ma’am. When I think of John 3:16, John 15:13, and others that plumb the depths of love. my evening Klondike bar or a cold A&W root beer at the end of a hot summer’s day doesn’t even come close. The true sacrificial, agape love of God gives so much more. If only we would practice that more in our lives.
Enjoyed how you said this, J.D.”Perhaps one of the most overused words in the English language, but under-demonstrated words in the Christian vocabulary. Amen. And noticed how I avoided the word “love” to describe my sentiments. 🙂 The high and deep and wide and high unconditional love of God trumps all other kinds of love. For He created love and is love. God bless.
Excellent job. Love is far more than a feeling but it’s a verb… an action. And God shows over and over how much He loves us all.
It really is a show-and-tell love from the Father, Jessica. He tells us in His Word how much He loves us and demonstrated (showed) His great love on the cross when He gave us His one and only Son.
Great piece Karen. So appreciate your thoughts on Love. I am so thankful that I am loved by Christ. It enables me to do so many things.
Thank you, Yvonne. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:1a (ESV)
Thank you so much. Good post and nice words.
I am thankful that God’s love for Me does not depend on changes of mind. A precious scripture to me is: The Father Himself loves you (John 16:27). But also John 14:21.
Thanks for sharing, Aritha, both those verses are powerful reminders the love we have.
I love this list of scriptural reminders of God’s love for His children. Having these stored in our hearts will serve us well in the hard times. My favorite is #7.
Knowing we are joint-heirs with Christ is incomprehensible, yet, powerful. “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17 (NIV)
Visiting for a second time.

Thank you, Barb! Jesus loves you!
I loved this post 🙂 We so need to start with the truth that Jesus loves us. Then we need to remember God’s love for us is steadfast and stands forever. And that puts our hearts to rest. Thank you, Karen!
Joanne, that’s a good word, if we start with the truth of the unconditional, never-ending, high and deep and wide love of Jesus, the rest of our spiritual lives make a lot more sense. Thanks for sharing!
