Hope was Always Coming and God Knew
One day we will see, hope was always coming and God knew.
Peeking through the curtain and scanning the audience, I hoped my entire family was coming.
I’d landed my first high-school role in the broadway musical, South Pacific. Thankfully, my character as the island girl, Liat, called for more speaking parts than singing—not my strong suit.
With sweaty palms and a rush of adrenaline, I checked the seats again.
If my people were coming, I wondered if I’d make them proud when I took my final bow.
From side stage during the first scene, my gaze spotted them through the blinding light. All my loved ones occupied the entire third row. They’re here, now break a leg.
I found my groove and remembered my few lines with no blunders. But my glory days as an actress ended soon after.
Before History, God Knew
History also recounts a glory day when hope was coming.
Over 2000 years ago, God set the stage for a story of hope to unfold.
The birth of the Christ-child took place in a lowly stable where animals occupied the front-row seats.
Jesus grew and carried out the heavenly Father’s will. The supernatural happened in His presence. He served the community and reached out to wanderers, outcasts, and the wayward lost without hope.
Hope was always coming. And God knew.
Before An Empty Tomb, God Knew
An enemy, Satan, plotted to destroy God’s plans to bring hope to a hopeless people. Still, the Savior died on a cross for the sins of the world…my sins and your sins.
Jesus spilled His blood for me. Then His broken body lay in a borrowed tomb.
But the enemy and Jesus’ accusers barely celebrated before Christ’s followers began rejoicing. Come and see! He is risen, just as He said! (Matthew 28:6)
Hope rose from the dead when Jesus Christ conquered the grave. Jesus fulfilled the hope of eternity and heaven. Christ provided a way for us to become children of God and gain eternal life.

When we need hope in our lives and circumstances, we remember hope was always coming. And God knew.
Hope was Coming for Our Victory
When we accept God’s salvation, it transforms us to over-comers—more than conquerors—and raises us to new life and new hope in the name of Jesus. Hope for victory.
You see, the world’s hope lacks fanfare moments of glory—booed off stage with a less than desirable performance. And it leaves us in the dark when the last light dims.
But Jesus Christ played the leading role in God’s story of hope. So Jesus stands solo as the Holy King at hope’s curtain call. And His glory deserves the applause of angels and saints.
Hope was always coming. And God knew.

God desires to make a grand entrance in our life with show-stopping miracles of hope. And Jesus is saving us front-row seats.
Accept God’s invitation to the curtain call where our ordinary life becomes extraordinary with Jesus taking a bow.

What a hope-lifting post. Loved this. When we’re feeling all hope is lost, remember He’s always kept all His promises. Thank you Ms. Karen.
Not one of His promises ever failed in the past. And God keeps His promises in the present. The real Hope-giver!
Hope is my word for the year, Karen, so I absolutely reveled in your post today. Yes, Jesus is the hope that God always knew was coming.
Blessings!
Hey Martha, I remember your word as hope in 2021. It’s one of my favorite things to write and speak about. Heavenly Father, whenever we feel hopeless, remind us how You are the real Hope-giver.
I am thankful for the hope God gives. Knowing our hope is found in Him gives me comfort and peace.
Me too, Melissa. It’s amazing how much our hope is tied to other spiritual aspects in our lives.
“The hope-giver”–I love that. This is certainly a season in our lives that we need hope. As we approach Passion Week, we can ponder God’s great gift to us and recognize the depth of His love. We are justified in having such hope.
The depth of God’s love is evident in the gift of His Son. Hope has a name. It’s Jesus.
Throughly enjoyed the post. Such a blessing to read.
Thank you, Evelyn! Hope rose from the dead when Jesus Christ conquered the grave.
God’s heart for us is so apparent in his provision of a great salvation and an end of our condemnation!
Michele, we can’t say, “Praise the Lord!” enough for that!
The world needs to hear more and more about our hope in Christ. He is the one, true hope-giver. Great post Karen. Thanks
Yvonne, I hope to point others to real hope in Christ more and more!
Yes. A sure hope and we will not be disappointed. We will offer a standing ovation and applause of worship. And our hope carries us and gives us joy as we walk this earth. What a wonderful plan and glorious Savior! Thank you for this praise and anticipation.
Well put, Stephen! God desires to make a grand entrance in our life with show-stopping miracles of hope. And Jesus is saving us front-row seats.
Great post, Karen!
And hope is still coming – when everything will be put right – and God will wipe all the tears from our eyes. I feel we are ever closer to the day.
Thanks, Jerralea! And so agree! Hope is continually coming our way and looking forward to the day when all will be made right!
Karen, Amen and again I say Amen. Thank you for your beloved words. God had everything in motion while there was still nothingness. Hope was always coming indeed. Blessings.
Agree, Paula! Father, thank You for raising Jesus from the dead, forgiving our sins, and giving us new life. Thank You for hope in Your resurrection power and glory. Your hope trumps all other hope.
This is a hope-filled post, Karen. I appreciate your confidence in proclaiming, “Before an empty tomb, God knew.” And, “But Jesus Christ played the leading role in God’s story of hope. So Jesus stands solo as the Holy King at hope’s curtain call. And His glory deserves the applause of angels and saints. Hope was always coming. And God knew.” Thank you for sharing your insights.
Thank you, Lisa. Although hope is an intangible thing, we can actually grab ahold of it in Jesus Christ! A thousand Hallelujahs!
What a uplifting and hope filled post, Karen!
Glad this encouraged you, Beckie! Praying for you dear friend. “Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.” 1 Peter 1:21 (NLT)
Praise God for the plan of salvation that existed in the mind of God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — for all of eternity. Their plan to redeem humankind was in place before we were even formed and set loose to make our fatal mistake in the Garden of Eden. What a wonderful Savior is God the Son who knew the role he would play in our redemption and aimed his heart and mind toward our redemption and salvation. Hope was always coming, and God did indeed know!
Beautifully said, Melinda. When we need hope in our lives and circumstances, we remember hope was always coming. And God knew. Heavenly Father, whenever we feel hopeless, remind us how You are the real Hope-giver. You knew hope was always coming in Jesus. Help us point others to hope in Christ.
New hope. New life. Victory. Gifts from Christ!
Yes! Love that, Nancy!
Amen! We have a hope and His name is Jesus – thank you for this beautiful reminder.
God desires to make a grand entrance in our life with show-stopping miracles of hope. And Jesus is saving us front-row seats.
I pray I can point others to hope in Christ! You are right — He offers real hope, forever hope. No matter what.
Yes! Lord, help us point others to the hope we have found in Jesus!
Love how you used the theatre analogy without diluting the truth of this biblical message!
Thanks, Ava. Real Hope definitely deserves the spotlight and center stage.
What a sweet reminder. I am featuring your post this week on Friday. Maree

“Jesus Christ played the leading role in God’s story of hope. So Jesus stands solo as the Holy King at hope’s curtain call. And His glory deserves the applause of angels and saints.” Yes. Because of him we have hope now.
When we need hope in our lives and circumstances, we remember hope was always coming. And God knew.
The darkest day in history was also the day hope became available, when Jesus took care of our sins. And then He arose, showing He had conquered death. Hallelujah! As often as I tell myself we can’t go by how things look and feel at the time, I still need the reminder that God sees the big picture and has everything under control.
Yes, Barbara! The darkest day in history brought that hope that makes us call it Good Friday today! Hope unveiled in amazing grace. The spotlight on God’s mercy freeing us from sin and shame.
Spring is the perfect season to celebrate the Ressurection, isn’t it?! All nature yearns with hope of new life and rebirth after a season of death. May we always make room for the God of green hope in our day-to-day lives!
Well said, Anita! Like spring, Hope was always coming. And God knew.
“Hope was always coming. And God knew.” I love this message of hope, Karen. They needed it back then; we need it right now. God always gives it to us. Hope can sustain us when our faith is not yet sight.
Thanks, Lisa. So thankful God’s hope is past, present and future tense!
