Jesus Saves: Salvation Scriptures and Prayer

Jesus Saves: Salvation Scriptures and Prayer

One of my favorite hashtags to use on social media is Jesus Saves (#JesusSaves).

But I realize not everyone understands what the phrase means.

Because before I understood my need for salvation and a Savior, I only knew a little about Jesus.

And I didn’t understand God’s story in sending Jesus, His Son, to die for me.

But after Jesus saved me at sixteen, my story became a God story.

First, the term saves carries the connotation of a rescue from something or someone.

Second, we need a rescuer, the one who saves, the savior.

According to the Bible, the gospel message is the foundation of these main essentials:

Jesus. The Savior who loves and takes away the sins of the world.

Salvation. Eternal life provided through the bloodshed of Jesus.

Eternity. Spiritual life after this physical life in either heaven or hell.

Jesus. The Savior who loves and takes away the sins of the world. Share on X

So let’s look at a list of scriptures from the Bible that show us our need for salvation and how Jesus saves us.

Jesus Saves Scripture

(1.) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17 (ESV)

(2.) “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 (ESV)

(3.) “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (ESV)

(4.) “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (ESV)

(5.) “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV)

(6.) “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

I’ve heard sin explained as missing the mark of God, falling short of the holiness of God or not conforming to God’s laws and ways. Read, Don Stewart :: What Is Sin?, Blue Letter Bible.

But God loved us still and sent Jesus to take our sins on Himself on the cross and provide the blood sacrifice to save us, to cover our sin.

Jesus Saves Bible Verses

(7.) “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (ESV)

(8.) Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (ESV)

(9.) “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

(10.) “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:4 (ESV)

Believing that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead and confessing Him as Lord of our life, saves us from spiritual death, giving us salvation, eternal life in Christ.

Salvation prayer

God, I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. Please forgive me for my sins. I believe Jesus Christ died to give me eternal life. Thank You for Your mercy and grace, and for the gift salvation. I accept Jesus as Lord and invite Him to live and reign in my heart and life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Our desire for a Savior is predicated on recognizing our need for a Savior. And God so graciously gave us His Law so that we can see how far short we fall from His standard of holiness. That recognition showed me how much I needed rescuing!

Karen says:

Well said, Ava. The law shows us our need for a Savior, then the Spirit draws us. Grateful to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.

Amen. We need Jesus.

Karen says:

Melissa, if the world needs anything, it’s Jesus!

A beautiful post clearly relating the Gospel in every possible way via the Scriptures and via your own words, thus promising to go out into the internet to share the Gospel with the Twitter world.

Karen says:

It’s my prayer this message reaches many people who need it, who need Jesus. I pray against the schemes of the enemy to stop it in any way. “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (ESV)

Even though we may have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior years ago, I find it necessary, at least for me, to be reminded daily of the sacrifice He made for me and rededicate my life to Him so I can continue to live for His Kingdom.
Blessings, Karen!

Karen says:

Yes, Martha, we all need reminded of the basics of our faith and about the power of Jesus blood! “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:4 (ESV)

J.D. Wininger says:

I think my “Go To” song is “There’s Something About that Name” by the Gaither’s. Oh, how I love hearing and singing that when troubles start to feel they’re overwhelming me. Such peace in that name.

Karen says:

Those are such powerful lyrics in the song, aren’t they? Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 (ESV)

Thank you for this clear message. May it go far and wide and touch so many hearts! God bless!

Karen says:

I pray it reaches lost souls. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

Jessica Brodie says:

Beautiful as always! Thank you for such powerful scriptures reminding us of this important truth!

Karen says:

Hey Jessica, it’s so important to get back to the basics and share the gospel sometimes for those who need to hear it. God bless!

Paula Short says:

Karen, this is such a treasure to read. So wonderfully spoken.
Visiting today from Let’s Have Coffee #17&18

Karen says:

Thanks for visiting, Paula. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (ESV)

Anita Ojeda says:

So often, we think we’re ‘pretty good’ people because we’re not out murdering or adultering. But ‘pretty good’ is just as sinful and dirty in the eyes of a holy God as those with outward sins we all see and know about. My pride is just as hurtful as any other sin. Thank you for the reminder that I am in need of a Savior, just like everyone else on earth.

Karen says:

Thanks for reminding us all of this truth that we all fall short of God’s glory and sin is sin.

Joanne Viola says:

Karen, I am so grateful Jesus saves, not only personally, but because the world is so in need of saving. He truly is our only hope! May this message reach many is my prayer for this post today!

Karen says:

Thank you, Joanne. If the world needs anything, it’s definitely Jesus. That’s my prayer as well.

Christine Malkemes says:

Hi! Found you on a link that linked me to Twitter. Cool! You know the most important total message you’ve given us is “RETURN to THE BASICS”. We need to know the why, who, why, when, why and how! Thank you. I write to Sister Disciples and I’m a teaching Pastor. It’s a joy to get to know you.

Karen says:

Hi Christine, I enjoyed reading your comment and glad you found me so we could meet here on my blog. Yes, I agree, we need to get back to the basics of our faith. It’s the foundation of all we believe. Good to get to know you and find out more about you! God bless!
