What is Worry and Fear? From Defeated to more than a Conqueror!
These will surprise you . . . Matthew 6:19-34
Worry and fear are known as the acceptable sins; they plague many believers. How do we deal with the onslaught of the enemy when we are paralyzed with fear and anxiety?
In the original Greek, merimnao, worry is a combination of two words: merizo, which means to divide, and nous, which is the mind. Worry is having a divided or distracted mind.

Enjoyed and was encouraged by your inspirational approach to overcoming worry and fear in the Christian life. Great to meet you Ms. Doris.
Always appreciate your comments, J.D. Glad to introduce Doris to you for such a powerful message.
Thanks for the encouragement today. This is an important message in these times. Worry and fear seem to permeate throughout our world. Thanks for sharing
So true, Yvonne. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.”
Wonderful to meet you, Doris, here on Karen’s blogging site! Whenever I find myself beginning to worry about anything, I remind myself that God is in control and with Him, I can put my fears and worries to rest.
Blessings!
I’m with you, Martha. Knowing without a doubt that God is in control and on His throne is my biggest comfort. God bless!
Thank you for informing us about your new book, Doris, and for making it free! During this time of depression, of lost salaries, and of stampeding inflation, a free book addressing worry and fear is most certainly welcome!
Melinda, it is a great message we all need right now and throughout many times in life.
Taking my worries to God helps me rest and renew. 🙂 Even when worry tries to creep in, as it will, I am thankful to go to the Father and find peace.
Beautifully said, Melissa. Thank you.
Thanks for encouraging us, Doris. God holds us in His hands. God bless!
Yes He does, Nancy. Thanks!
Thank you for the reminder that I should not tolerate worry as an acceptable sin!
Ava, that was an ouch moment for me.
A great Piper quote! I’m so thankful that God meets us where we are with so much grace and kindness! Stopping by from #tuneinthursday
Thanks for stopping by, Laura. I love that Piper quote, also. And how Doris said, “Worry and fear are known as the acceptable sins; they plague many believers.”
So good! My (teen) daughter said she’s started seeing her own prayers answered because she decided to start TRUSTING God. This helps with her worry!
That’s amazing, Jessica. I loved the Piper quote Doris used here. But this is also an interesting thought from Timothy Keller, “Worry is not believing God will get it right, and bitterness is believing God got it wrong.”
Sounds like a very needed book!
It is a great eBook, Lauren.
I wrestle with worry. Doris touched on several things a dear sister in Christ recently pointed out, such as my work being rooted in lack of feeling safe in Christ. Excellent interview; I will check out this book.
Thanks for sharing your struggle, Candice. I think most of us deal with worry and fear or both at some points in life. I certianly have wrestled with them myself. Hope you will download the eBook, it’s great.
I have to live in His peace! So I rarely deal with fear, worry, or anxiety, but I found this insightful, “Worry is having a divided or distracted mind.” IMM#24
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Lisa. That’s inspiring to desire to live in God’s peace.
