The Only Satisfaction 100% Guaranteed

The Only Satisfaction 100% Guaranteed, Adobe Spark Image“We guarantee complete satisfaction.”

I always thought I knew what brought satisfaction in life. More money and resources to accomplish a dream. Like-minded people on my team. A near-perfect marriage and kids.

And a career I enjoyed on any day. Also, for the good parts of life to outweigh the bad—really tip the scale.

Satisfaction 100% Guaranteed?

Here’s the truth. I was wrong on every account. When a wish came true, I only moved on to the next one.

But nothing stayed around for long. None of the ways I tried to conquer my felt-based needs brought long-lasting satisfaction. No so-called guarantees kept up their end of the bargain.

Still, what ushers in a well-spring of satisfaction deep in my soul? What in the world feeds the human soul’s hunger and quenches our spirit’s thirst?

I discovered nothing in the world satisfies long-term. Oh, the god of this world, Satan, promises to satisfy us with many enticing offers. So, let’s look at…

4 False Hopes of Satisfaction

1) Possessions. I wish I had that. If only it was mine. Have you ever imaged possessing fabulous things? Perhaps you’re nodding. Me too. Maybe we imagine beautiful homes with regal furnishings, fancy cars and clothes.

The Only Satisfaction 100% Guaranteed, Adobe Spark ImageBecause ads and commercials provide endless possibilities. The lure often seizes my heart and mind.

Sure, it’s fine to have nice things. But they don’t fill my soul. Funeral directors confirm, “You will never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul.”

We can’t take any “thing” in this world with us to the next world. Our home, garage, basement, and storage units may be full and running over. Yet…

Obsession with possessions always leaves us empty.

I’ve found the one true possession of the heart, bringing satisfaction in this world and lasting into eternity.

2) Money. We labor and ponder ways to make big bucks. Needing more and more, we almost taste it. But sooner or later, the wealthy attest to a thought ringing true, “Money can’t buy happiness.”

Plenty of rich people live a downright miserable and sad life. Even admitting the feeling of nothing to live for.

Money guarantees a purchase of things and sometimes people. But it never guarantees satisfaction.

Products offer a money-back guarantee in writing if you’re not completely satisfied. Yet, money itself makes another promise, “I never have your back.”

Instead, an offer in writing promises it’s both free and satisfies for a lifetime.

“But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life” John 4:14 AMP.

3) Pleasure. Anything indulging the flesh and making us feel good. Sex, pornography, food, drugs, alcohol, spending, and others.

While God created sex as good and pleasurable within bonds of marriage, it’s one of the most abused pleasures in our world.

Pleasures of the flesh numb the pain from the countless times the world lets us down. And the numbing-effect eventually disappears. Then the pain returns.

These flesh-pleasures always remain unsatisfied and unquenched. It’s a vicious cycle keeping us trapped as victims on the world’s hamster wheel. But…

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” Psalm 16:11 ESV.

4) Family Ties. One spouse, one pet, two kids, and a quaint house with a white picket fence. Fairy tales presented in books along life’s way.

Yet, few families turn out exactly how most of us planned. We picked up our parent’s baggage. Or, we married a wonderful soul-mate, but remain unable to have children. Or, we lost a child.

Maybe a painful, lonely, or embarrassing reality belongs to some of us. Destruction lives there.

And the picket fence is the only thing left standing. Yet…

“Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God’s very own family, citizens of God’s country, and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian” Ephesians 2:19 TLB.

Amen. Jesus. The only satisfaction 100% guaranteed. Love that statement. 🙂

Karen says:

Melissa, thank you for commenting. The one true and only possession of the heart that brings satisfaction in this world and lasts into eternity…Jesus! 🙂 Blessings!

Becky Smith says:

“Wonderful, wonderful Jesus is to me!” LOVED this post! Oh, that we would continually look at our lives in the light of eternity and lay up treasures where they really matter & will last!

Karen says:

Amen, Becky! And thank you. Jesus ushers in a well-spring of satisfaction deep in my soul. He feeds the human soul’s hunger and quenches our spirit’s thirst! Oh, hallelujah and praise to Him alone!

Sydell says:

I love love this!! Great encouragement to always know God is #1 and He loves us and He is ENOUGH Amen!

Karen says:

Yes, Sydell, Jesus is enough. In fact, Jesus is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Nothing else on earth has the same filling and satisfying power. Thanks sweet friend for commenting. 🙂

Karen, an advertiser’s goal is to show us where we are not satisfied so that we will believe we must have the product they are peddling. But the truth is: there is NO product on the face of this earth that will bring true satisfaction.
I love how you lay this out in your post. The only thing that will ever bring true satisfaction is Jesus.

Blessings to you, friend! Keep shining for HIM.

Karen says:

So true, Beckie! Amen! It’s all false hopes of what brings lasting satisfaction deep down in our soul. We all know the experience all too well…when the “newness” wears off of the “new” thing. Because, we have never and will never see that U-Haul behind a hearse. 🙂 Thanks! Blessings!

Maree Dee says:

Great reminders it is all about Jesus. I too used to have a dream, get it and move on quickly to the next without even savoring what I got.

Karen says:

Exactly. It’s so easy to do. But it’s different with Jesus if we keep reminding the holes in our heart. He’s the best filler-upper around! And the best part? The satisfaction His love, grace, and presence bring into our lives last forever. Thanks for commenting! Blessings!

Great post, Karen! Loved seeing you at Recharge Wednesday today too! Happy Valentine’s Day to you.

Karen says:

Thanks, Sarah. And how appropriate today to say “Jesus is mine!” He’s our true valentine with love 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

Brooke Price says:

Thanks for reminding us of this important truth. It’s so easy to try and find satisfaction in all the wrong things, but God is the only one who actually brings true contentment. Great post! 🙂

Karen says:

Thanks, Brooke! Isn’t that the truth. We search high and low, look to people and things, but nothing in this world will do it for us…only Jesus. Blessings!

Rebecca Jones says:

John 10:10 should have been clear enough, but too often we settle and miss the life and life more abundantly, the 100% Jesus died for us to have.

Karen says:

Rebecca, right?! Abundant actually means, rich, lavish, plentiful, bountiful, etc. (Google) Jesus pours into our cups and lives until we overflow, but we choose to access it or rely on our own attempts. Thanks for commenting! 🙂

Liz says:

Amen!! So beautifully encouraging. The face of that little boy with the Bible makes me grin!! Blessings!

Karen says:

Liz, thanks so much. And, I know, I smile looking at that picture as well. It depicts the Scripture with it…fullness of joy in God’s presence. Blessings!
