Win Spiritual Battles in the Name of Jesus

We claim victory over our battles and overcome our strongholds in the name of Jesus.

Because at the name of Jesus:

Evil must flee.

Demons tremble.

Hell loses souls.

And miracles happen in the name of Jesus.

(1.) We overcome Satan, our enemy, in the name of Jesus.

In James 4, the Bible cautions us against worldliness that makes us God’s enemy.

Rather, in humility we are to:

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:7-8 (ESV)

When we stay near to God, the enemy has no choice but to hightail it out of our life.

But until we submit our entire being to God, we can’t resist the devil—not in our own strength.

So when we submit to God and draw near to Him, we send Satan running!

(2.) We win over Spiritual forces of darkness.

The spirit world is a very real thing, both the spirits of light and darkness.

“As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. She followed Paul and us, crying out, ‘These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.’ And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, ‘I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.’ And it came out that very hour.” Acts 16:16-18 (ESV)

Jesus, “canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” Colossians 2:14 (ESV)

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 2:38 (ESV)

We overcome spiritual forces of darkness when the Holy Spirit dwells in us.

(3.) We win the victory over spiritual death in the name of Jesus.

“‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (ESV)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (ESV)

How amazing to know spiritual death loses the victory the moment we accept God’s gift of eternal life. Because we call on the name of Jesus.

(4.) We win the battle over lust, sin, and temptation.

Jesus living in us helps us overcome temptation, sin, and lustful passions. There’s power in calling on His name.

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22 (ESV)

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

(5.) We win over fear in the Name of Jesus.

God is not the source of fear. Instead, it originates from the enemy of our souls. Look at 2 Timothy 1:7,

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (ESV)

And if God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear, then it comes from Satan. God gave us a spirit of power and love and self-control. And notice the verb gave is past tense. We already possess power over fear, we just need to access it.

In the name of Jesus, fear must flee.
